About GiftRAP Healthcare Software

In the Beginning
While GiftRAP now serves more than 2000 sites, it all started in 1992 when a collaboration between Cathleen Mackie, Steve Mackie, and Randy Wallin created the company. Pioneers in the use of data management tools for a variety of industries, Steve and Randy worked together to support Cathy's efforts as a registered nurse, which resulted in the creation of the original Resident Assessment Instrument (RAI), an easy-to-use care management tool for the nursing home where Cathy worked. Just as in the original solution we created, the GiftRAP team is still committed to the development of easy-to-use tools for information processing. This unique commitment is the primary factor that sets GiftRAP apart from our competitors.

Our name - A Reflection of Our Commitment to Excellence
When we named our company, we specialized in the development of the RAI (MDS, RAPS, Care Plan). Therefore, our choice was as simple as it was appropriate; our GIFT to our users was ease-of-use in completing the mandated Resident Assessment Protocol, or RAP. Thus, GiftRAP was born. Although we now focus on the development of rehab software, our gift to our customers continues to be ease-of-use functionality to address complex business requirements.

Growth and Customer Loyalty
More than 200 sites of service were using our RAI product by 2002 when we were asked by our customers to produce a rehab module to assist in the management of their rehab departments. We listened, and by 2003 we launched the first version of Rehab Optima to address both the management and clinical documentation requirements of the rehab departments. Rehab Optima quickly became recognized as the m ost easy-to-use and complete product offering in its space, fueling our rapid growth from approximately 200 sites-of-service installations in 2002 to more than 2500 sites by 2009.

Since most of our customers are contract therapy companies and in-house rehabilitation departments, in 2007 we made a strategic decision to exit the RAI development business in order to focus all of our resources on the continued development of great rehab software and business tools that increase regulatory compliance, increase efficiency, and optimize reimbursements. Based on this decision, we set out to identify the best company in the market at providing RAI and accounting functionality for long-term care to be our partner. Our search brought us to PointClickCare, the leader in providing on-demand software to long-term care facilities. We quickly determined that our corporate values and goals were in alignment and established a strong partnership to benefit our mutual customers through close levels of integration.
